Our Art Lead is Julie Bell.

By promoting our school ethos of ‘Respect, Pride and Achieve’, together with our Red Kite Values, our young people will have the character traits, knowledge, and skills to make a positive impact on the world.

Our curriculum is underpinned by our British values, equalities, school ethos and the need to build cultural capital for all our pupils.

Intent

C: We develop the application of culture, from around the world through the study of people, places and time.

H: We facilitate a safe space to build positive mental and physical health by expression through art.

A: We aspire by experimenting with new ideas, artist and appreciate others’ work.

I: We develop identity by giving freedom to create new ideas through different mediums.

R: We promote positive relationships through the appreciation of the world’s artists.

Our Visions and Aims

The curriculum is fully developed and all subject leaders are knowledgeable, confident and able to lead their subjects effectively and ensure progression across all year groups, leading to raised outcomes in reading, writing and maths.

The National Curriculum for Art and Design aims to ensure that all pupils:

§ produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences

§ become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques

§ evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design

§ know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.

We use the Focus Scheme as the basis for our art scheme of work.

Please take a look at the document below to see how we teach Art & Design at RPA Primary.

This outlines the units taught in each year group, the medium used, the key questions and sticky words.  It also shows the diverse range of artists that are studied as a stimulus for the children's art work.
