Rushden
Primary Academy

About Us

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Rushden Primary Academy, which is part of the Greenwood Academies Trust. Thank you for showing an interest in our wonderful Academy. This website aims to give you a taster of what life is like at the Academy. It also provides regular updated information for both parents and pupils.

"Relationships between pupils and adults are warm and strong. This creates a climate in which pupils develop well and make good progress throughout the school." Ofsted -  June 2018

Rushden Primary Academy opened its doors to pupils in September 2015 and reached full capacity in September 2021. There are fourteen classes - Reception (Curious Cats and Fabulous Frogs), Year 1 (Amazing Ants and Happy Hippos), Year 2 (Terrific Tigers and Brave Bears), Year 3 (Wonderful Whales and Dynamic Dolphins), Year 4 (Marvellous Meerkats and Joyful Jaguars), Year 5 (Perfect Pandas and Kind Koalas) and Year 6 (Outstanding Owls and Excellent Eagles).

The Academy is sponsored by the Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT), who currently has 37 open academies educating over 18,000 pupils across seven local authority areas including Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire, Leicester City, West Northamptonshire, North Northamptonshire, Peterborough, and Lincolnshire.

We share good practice and develop effective collaborative working relationships within our region and across the Trust.

"Leaders are ambitious for their pupils and make certain that plans for school growth do not have a negative impact on current pupils’ learning." Ofsted - June 2018

The Academy serves an ever-growing community, so family support services are integral to our school culture. We operate in an open culture with ambitious staff, who are very well supported by the Trust. Our staff are committed to accelerating progress for the benefit of our pupils and for the future of Rushden. We have come a long way and continue to grow year by year and day by day.

"Leaders prepare pupils well for life in modern Britain so that they are tolerant and celebrate different cultures, religions and lifestyles.” Ofsted - June 2018

We are privileged to reside on an extensive site with a purpose-built school. As a result, our classrooms and resources are at the forefront of technological developments. Our outside spaces are continually under development, and we continue to add to this each year. The children make great use of the outdoor gym, installed in 2022 and the trim trail, installed in 2021. One of the projects for 2023 is to add more seating and shade to the playground and with the support of the School Council, this will be a success.

“Most pupils, including disadvantaged pupils and those who have special educational needs (SEN) and/or disabilities, make consistently good progress.” Ofsted - June 2018

We aim to continue our recent improvements as an Academy and are committed to further improving quality and standards in a swift yet sustainable manner. 2022 was an important year at RPA as it saw our first ever KS2 outcomes. We are incredibly proud of the results that were achieved across the board, with Reading, Writing, Maths, GPaS and combined for KS2 SATs being above both national and local percentages!

We are very proud that the hard work of pupils and staff has had such an impact for our learners both now and into the future. We will continue to strive for high attainment and progress for all our pupils.

“Pupils benefit from a well-organised and well-thought-out curriculum, which is rich in opportunities for pupils to learn and explore.” Ofsted - June 2018
