Healthy School Lunch Ideas - Quick and Easy School Lunch Ideas

At Rushden Primary Academy, we are committed to being a Healthy School and making choices that support the wellbeing of all our children. Our lunch options are carefully selected to promote healthy eating, and our Design & Technology curriculum—including food education—encourages children to grow healthily, safely, and responsibly.

Because several pupils have airborne nut allergies, we operate as a nut‑free school. This means that any food containing nuts is not permitted on site. If a food item is found to contain nuts, it will be replaced with an alternative option and the original item will be sent home. We understand this may be inconvenient, especially if your child enjoys nut‑based foods, but the safety of our pupils is our highest priority and we all play a part in protecting those with allergies.

To reinforce this important message, we would like to draw your attention to our Whole School Food Policy, which outlines how we support healthy lifestyles across the school. You can find this at the bottom of this page.

We have also made some changes to our daily routines. To prevent children from eating their lunch items as their morning snack (it happens more often than you’d think!), lunchbox trolleys will now be taken to the hall after registration. Children are encouraged to take their snack from their lunchbox at the start of the day and place it in their tray. At playtime, pupils who make a healthy snack choice will receive Class Dojo points as recognition.

We encourage you to read and digest (pun intended) the poster below and consider making any necessary adjustments to your child’s lunchbox and snack choices.
