Rushden
Primary Academy

About Us

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Rushden Primary Academy, which is part of the Greenwood Academies Trust. Thank you for showing an interest in our wonderful Academy. This website aims to give you a taster of what life is like at the Academy. It also provides regular updated information for both parents and pupils.

'Rushden Primary Academy is a thriving school. Pupils are happy and safe here.' Ofsted 2024

Rushden Primary Academy opened its doors to pupils in September 2015 and reached full capacity in September 2021. There are fourteen classes - Reception (Curious Cats and Fabulous Frogs), Year 1 (Amazing Ants and Happy Hippos), Year 2 (Terrific Tigers and Brave Bears), Year 3 (Wonderful Whales and Dynamic Dolphins), Year 4 (Marvellous Meerkats and Joyful Jaguars), Year 5 (Perfect Pandas and Kind Koalas) and Year 6 (Outstanding Owls and Excellent Eagles).

The Academy is sponsored by the Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT), who currently has 37 open academies educating over 18,000 pupils across seven local authority areas including Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire, Leicester City, West Northamptonshire, North Northamptonshire, Peterborough, and Lincolnshire.

We share good practice and develop effective collaborative working relationships within our region and across the Trust.

The Academy serves an ever-growing community, so family support services are integral to our school culture. We operate in an open culture with ambitious staff, who are very well supported by the Trust. Our staff are committed to accelerating progress for the benefit of our pupils and for the future of Rushden. We have come a long way and continue to grow year by year and day by day.

"The school works hard to support and help its families. Parents and carers value the
pastoral support that the school gives its pupils. As one parent explained, 'The school
really cares for its pupils and offers them a wide range of learning.'  Many parents are
supportive of the school and the range of improvements the school is making for pupils'
quality of education."  Ofsted - Feb 2024

We are privileged to reside on an extensive site with a purpose-built school. As a result, our classrooms and resources are at the forefront of technological developments. Our outside spaces are continually under development, and we continue to add to this each year. The children make great use of the outdoor gym, installed in 2022 and the trim trail, installed in 2021. One of the projects for 2023/24 is to add more seating and shade to the playground and with the support of the School Council, this will be a success.

"The school has set out a curriculum designed to help all pupils to reach high standards. Pupils achieve well. This includes pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Pupils talk about the lessons they enjoy and what they have learned."  Ofsted - Feb 2024

We aim to continue our recent improvements as an Academy and are committed to further improving quality and standards in a swift yet sustainable manner. The last few years have been crucial as they have seen our first ever KS2 outcomes. We are incredibly proud of the results that were achieved across the board, with Reading, Writing, Maths, GPaS and combined for KS2 SATs being above both national and local percentages!

We are very proud that the hard work of pupils and staff has had such an impact for our learners both now and into the future. We will continue to strive for high attainment and progress for all our pupils.

"Staff have high expectations for pupils' behaviour. Pupils are courteous and polite. They move around the school in a respectful manner. Lessons are calm and pupils concentrate well on their learning." Ofsted - Feb 2024
